Friday Morning

Open my lips, O Lord,

And my mouth shall proclaim your praise.

Create in me a clean heart, O God,

And renew a right spirit within me.

Cast me not away from your presence

And take not your Holy Spirit from me.

Give me the joy of your saving help again

And sustain me with your bountiful Spirit.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:

As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

Scripture Reading: Psalm 73

Take a moment in silence to reflect on the Scripture reading and the following question for today:

What nagging and persistent habits or patterns do you need to confess?

Prayers for Others Today: Take some time to pray out loud on behalf of others. If in a group, you may be led to share your prayer requests in order to pray for one another.

Our Father,

Who is in heaven

Hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come, your will be done

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread

And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory,

Forever and ever. Amen.

Look with pity, O heavenly Father, upon the people in this land who live with injustice, terror, disease, and death as their constant companions. Have mercy upon us. Help us to eliminate our cruelty to these our neighbors. Strengthen those who spend their lives establishing equal protection of the law and equal opportunities for all. And grant that every one of us may enjoy a fair portion of the riches of this land; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Friday Evening

O gracious Light,

Pure brightness of the ever living Father in heaven,

O Jesus Christ, holy and blessed!

Now as we come to the setting of the sun,

And our eyes behold the evening light,

We sing your praises O God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

You are worthy at all times to be praised by all voices,

O Son of God, O Giver of life,

And to be glorified through all the worlds.

O Lord, Maker of all time, you have taught us to call the evening, the morning, and the midday one, and you have made the sun to know its going down. Dispel now the darkness of our hearts, that by your brightness we may know you to be the true God and eternal light, with Christ your Son and the Holy Spirit, one God, living and reigning forever and ever. Amen.
