1 – STORY

  NOTES

LET’S START

If you were to connect your life story to a particular genre, what would it be (ie: mystery, comedy, drama, etc.) and why?

MAIN IDEA - Identity

In order to see the world and the circumstances of life rightly, we need the right narrative. We believe there’s a True Story that frames and defines the whole of life; it’s the Biblical Story. Knowing the Truth of God’s Story and our place in it frees us to live out our purpose.

Watch "THE STORY"

DISCUSS:

How does The Story make sense of the world we live in?

If The Story is true (and we believe it is), what impact would Scenes 4 & 5 have on your life personally?

EXPLORE SCRIPTURE:

The following verses are references for The Story.

Genesis 1:26-28

Genesis 3

Genesis 12:2-3

Colossians 1:19-20

Ephesians 2:10

PRACTICE:

This is o
ur Story and why Jesus came to Earth, died for us, rose from the dead, and invites us to follow Him – we find our place in God’s Story that continues to unfold. To experience this reality, (what scripture calls
salvation), we need to make it personal. Have you accepted God’s Story as your story? There’s no special formula, but talking with the Creator of The Story is a great place to start. Here are some words to get you started:

'Father God, You created me to be a reflection of You to the world. I accept this privilege and responsibility. Jesus, I believe Your death and resurrection brought about new creation life and I step into that reality today. You say that I am free and forgiven; I receive Your forgiveness.  You say that You've made me brand new, even if I don't see it yet; I put my trust in You, that I am who You say I am. I receive Your life. Holy Spirit, I trust that You are with me, empowering me, to discover and live out my place in The Story. Thank you God, for loving me, in Jesus' name, Amen.'

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

to keep you growing...

How am I keeping God’s Story the defining reality over my life?

What part(s) of The Story do I understand more clearly or in a different way than I previously did?

How has this greater, over-arching Story impacted the way I read scripture?

What evidence is there in my life that this Story is true and powerful?

What could I affirm in others to help them better see their place in God’s Story?
